Wickless Candles - the latest

Wickless candles are a new invention, and work by being placed on a heating plate. This then melts the soy wax, and reveals some kind of scene, a seascape or a Christmas theme for example, and as the soy wax heats up it releases its fragrance. These are a great idea as a gift. Soybean candles generally last longer than paraffin wax candles because they burn at a cooler temperature. They are also healthier because they do not produce soot like ordinary wax candles made from paraffin wax. Check out Soy Candles for more information.

A New Kind of Wickless Soy Candle Appears on the Scene

by PRWEB
Thumbwick Candles introduces the new Appearing Scene wickless soy candle; a wickless soy wax candle that has an embedded scene that becomes visible as the wax melts. With all the beauty of a gel candle, this scented candle has two big advantages: all-natural soybean wax, and no flame.

(PRWEB) October 15, 2004 -- When Thumbwick Candles first started selling scented soy wax wickless candles on their website: www.thumbwickcandles.com , owner Margaret Palecek saw the potential of embedding objects, such as seashells, in the bottom of the candles. Soy wax, which is an opaque white when solid, becomes crystal clear much like cooking oil when melted, revealing items within the candle.

I love the artistic things you can do with gel candles, like underwater seascapes, bakery candles, and candles that look like a tropical drink. They are so cute, says Palecek, but, I dont like the fact that they are made from a petroleum based gel. I want a natural, environmentally-friendly candle for my family, and for my customers, so Ive tried to develop all-natural soy wax candles that have the artistic features of a gel candle.

That is exactly what Thumbwick Candles has done with release of their new Appearing Scene wickless soy candle. Palecek went beyond just shells or stones, and thought: Why not make an entire underwater seascape, with hand-blown glass fish and other sea creatures? Or other scenes, like holiday scenes or arctic scenes? The potential for themes to match any occasion or personality is exciting, she says. Since the embedded scene is invisible when the candle is solid, a person could give what appears to be an ordinary scented wickless candle and candle warmer as a gift, and the revealed scene would be a complete surprise to the recipient when the candle was melted on the warmer.

Still new to the candle market, wickless candles are basically scented candles without a wick. They are not lit like a conventional candle, but rather placed on a warming unit so that the fragrance can be released as the wax melts. The fragrance releasing properties of a wickless candle are even stronger than a lit scented candle, because of the increased amount of melted wax. Without a flame there is no risk of fire or soot damage to your home. And now, with the new lighted candle warmers available, your wickless candle can even have the illuminating properties of a lit candle.

These wickless candles sound like an exciting addition to the candle market, and I am certainly going to look out for them, and consider them as gifts.  ~ Site Editor

Palecek first started making candles from soy wax in 2003, because she was concerned about the environment and the worlds dwindling resources. Most commercially sold candles are made from paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of petroleum refining. When she switched to soy wax in her candle making she found she preferred it to paraffin, because it has much less wick smoking than paraffin, is consumed more slowly, and has better fragrance throw. It is also a renewable and biodegradable resource. Founded in July of 2004, Thumbwick Candles sells natural soy wax candles and candle accessories.
